About Us

The Inn in Swayfield was built around 1650, and has served the local settlers, villagers and passers-by throughout the years. Now known as the Royal Oak, it had a brief period as the Bakers Arms; our current journey is simple, real fires, real ales, Fine wines and home-cooked seriously good food in a friendly atmosphere.

Landlord Andrew Lea has been in the pub trade for around 20 years.  From working in a wide variety of pubs, he came to The Royal Oak directly after running a very successful nightclub in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

We are very much a family orientated pub, with children of all ages welcome to join in the unique atmosphere of The Royal Oak.  We also have a child friendly menu so everyone can enjoy an evening out.

We also welcome well behaved dogs into the pub.  We have a very strong dog community in Swayfield and as a rural county pub, felt it appropriate that pets be allowed into the bar.  We must stress that dogs are not allowed into the dining area of the pub, however if you do wish to bring your pet with you when you are planning a meal, we have a fantastic area especially set up where you and your furry friend can eat together.
